2012) – New York City-based agency, PORFIRIO PINA ENTERTAINMENT, INC., is proud
to announce it will start operations today. The company will focus in artist
management and consulting in music publishing, branding, marketing and promotin.
Porfirio Pina Entertainment,
Inc. was founded by Porfirio Piña, a music business executive with a 20+ year
experience in the industry. Piña recently held the position of Senior Director
of Writer/Publisher Relations at Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI).
One of the key players in
the Latin recording industry, Porfirio Piña earned great prestige and
recognition thanks to his professionalism, awareness of market trends, network
of contacts and remarkable vision for discovering, supporting and promoting new
talent.

Inc. starts operations with an artist roster that includes such names as
renowned producer Pavel De Jesús (Proyecto Uno, Ilegales, Sandy & Papo MC,
Joselito y KMW); Richy Peña (Chino & Nacho, Don Omar, Matt Hunter); Vladimir
Dotel (Ilegales)—who recently landed 3 singles on Billboard’s Tropical Charts”:

BMI as president of the BMI Foundation, Inc, a not-for-profit corporation
founded in 1985 dedicated to encouraging the creation, performance and study of

Back in 1989, Piña started
his career as President and Co-Owner of PNP Productions. There, he formed and
managed Proyecto Uno as the first ever merengue-hip-hop group. The first two
albums of Proyecto Uno were a major commercial success and sold 2 million copies
worldwide, reaching #1 in USA, Mexico, Central America, Venezuela, Colombia,
Ecuador, Chile and Spain.
His professional development
in the music industry was nurtured by the involvement in countless conferences
and speaking engagements at multiple key events of the recording industry and in
schools and universities nationwide. In 2008, Piña was recognized by US Latin
newspaper El Diario - La Prensa as one of the Successful Latinos in the USA.
Piña is also a Voting Member at
the Recording Academy (Grammy), the Latin Recording Academy (Latin Grammy) and
the National Academy of Popular Music, and a member of the NYC Latin Media and
Entertainment Commission and the Association of Independent Music Publisher,
among other professional organizations.
